Heading to Arizona

We're leaving Sunday on a road trip that will take us through Oregon, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and finally, to Green Valley. We've never taken this route before (it's a bit of a detour into Colorado) but we look forward to seeing some new territory. Arizona is starting to cool down a bit now, so we look forward to temperatures in the 80's.
We plan to add cable service and a wireless modem to the house amenities this fall. I adjusted the rental prices just a bit to cover that. We're still trying to keep them below market value and give rental preference to friends and referrals of friends. That has worked quite well thus far.
We're looking forward to all the activities available in Green Valley. There are some house projects that await us, but we should still have lots of time for fun and travel. I'll try to post a few blog entries about any interesting things we discover.

Roadrunner!!!!!

We're used to seeing quail and doves and lots of other birds, but a roadrunner in the backyard is not an every day occurrence. This guy was there for quite a while, and I got about 10 photos, but this is the only one where he's moving and actually looks like a roadrunner.
After a day of house and yard work and a Costco run in Tucson, we settled in to enjoying some Green Valley amenities. We discovered that our favorite fitness room at Santa Rita Springs has been enlarged and updated- a nice surprise. The pool at this facility is also my favorite, as it's kept pretty warm and has a lovely view of the mountains.
Today we joined the hiking club (an every Thursday event) for a hike in the Santa Rita mountains-just a 20 minute drive from our house. It was a great outing, and the weather was perfect. It got hot in the afternoon- 88- but was cooler in the morning and we had some good tree cover.
Tomorrow.....who knows?

About Us

We are a Seattle couple who purchased this home in Green Valley Arizona (20 minutes south of Tucson) in 2006 and totally remodeled it to our liking. We enjoy spending time there in the fall and in the spring, but most of our winters are filled with travel or other obligations and/or adventures. Our intent is to rent the house inexpensively to friends and acquaintances who will appreciate the spareness of the accommodations (no t.v., for example) and enjoy the amenities (see "About the House")This blog is intended to be a resource for information about the house and ongoing information about the area.

About the House

Located in the heart of Green Valley, close to shopping and amenities, this house provides a comfortable place to stay while exploring all the great things to do in the surrounding area. Within Green Valley, you have access to swimming pools, workout facilities, billiards, pickle ball, tennis courts and golf coursed (some fees involved) and in the surrounding areas there's lots of hiking, bird watching, Karchner Caverns, artsy Tubac, metropolitan Tucson and just a little over 2 hours away, the funky old copper mining town of Bisbee (our favorite getaway). And that's just some of what's out there...

The house is 1450 sq. ft. and has a large fenced back yard. It sleeps 4 in 2 separate bedrooms. One has a private bath and the other bath is in the hallway. There is also a queen size blow up mattress for additional sleeping. There's a Weber grill, a well stocked kitchen, laundry and 2 mountain bikes available for tenant use. The house has cable television and wireless internet connection The tenant is responsible for cleaning and washing the linens in readiness for the next guest. The price of the rental reflects the duties we are asking the tenants to assume. We have the contact information for house cleaners if anybody would rather go that route.
